Spring is here and there is no better time to start a running program than right now.
Whether you are new to running, picking it up again after time away, or an experienced runner, our #GetOutAndRunCP free virtual running program and fundraiser encourages you to get outside, breathe the fresh air, and enjoy the sense of accomplishment that comes with running. The eight-week program culminates with a virtual race on Saturday, June 12.
This free running program was created to help individuals with an interest in running stay connected with their community during COVID-19. Please practice safe physical distancing when running and abide by all recommendations outlined by local health units. If at any point you feel like you might be experiencing an injury, new pain, or that the plan is progressing too quickly or too intensely for you, please stop and seek the necessary assessment.
Our virtual running program is free and open to all levels of running experience. Interested runners gather on our private Facebook group, a space for people to share routes, running tips, and encouragement. Briar, one of our amazing personal trainers, is leading the charge by offering training guidance and support. Our ‘Couch to 5K’ running program started on April 18 but you can still join our community of runners online. Send us a request to join the Facebook group.
Virtual Race Day (June 12)
Run 5K at your own pace at a time and on a route of your choosing. Register through our mobile app (look under the Fundraisers tab), call us at 613-253-2112, or drop by Heritage Fitness in person. Register for a donation to the Hospital Foundation in the amount of $5, $10, $20, $50, or $100. Heritage Fitness will donate $5 for every registered runner (up to $1000). Be sure to register so we can count your participation! Proceeds benefit our friends at the Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital Foundation.
You don’t have to be a member at Heritage Fitness to join the running group or the fundraising race. You also don’t have to participate in the running program to register for the race.
Personal trainer Briar leads our private Facebook group. Each week she will share information to be sure you’re getting the most out of the virtual running program. Learn more about Briar.
